Gavin and Stacey – Barry, South Wales

The much-loved British sitcom Gavin and Stacey, which ran over 3 seasons is officially back with cast and crew being spotted filming in Barry Island. Yes, a Christmas special is being worked on, to all of our excitement! But how fabulous would it be to live a stone’s throw away from the many places made famous by scenes in Gavin and Stacey?

Well, there’s opportunity to do just that with the Harbourside development at The Quays in Barry, from Barratt Homes. Situated on Barry waterfront, these homes offer enviable, scenic waterside views.

The famous location of Barry Island itself, plus the town centre, are both within walking distance. These energy-efficient, 4-bedroom terraced homes are a must-see for anyone looking to downsize or by a first home, whether you’re a Gavin and Stacey fan or not.

Midsomer Murders – Wallingford, South Oxfordshire

The long-running TV detective drama Midsomer Murders is renowned for its quaint village, rural backdrop. Filming is done across several locations, mostly in Surrey and Oxfordshire. And one such location is Wallingford, a historic market town on the river Thames in South Oxfordshire. It is recognisable as the fictional village Causton, home to the original Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby.

Just 2-miles away from Wallingford, in the equally attractive, historic village of Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, you will find the Deanfield Orchard development of new homes from Deanfield Homes. A smaller development, made up of only 20 homes ranging from 2 bedrooms up to 5 bedrooms, it is set within a beautiful backdrop of mature trees and open spaces.

The homes are all energy efficient too, coming with air source heat pumps alongside thermal-efficient glazing and superior levels of insulation.

Enjoy life in the picturesque English countryside and catch a glimpse of scenes from Midsomer Murders while living at Deanfield Orchard. See the homes available here.

Vera – Seaton Delaval and South Shields, Newcastle-upon-Tyne

Another hugely popular crime drama on our screens, but this one filmed across the vast landscape of North East England, is Vera. And for those who are true fans, you’ll know the last ever series has just finished filming. Many fantastic locations across the North East have featured in episodes of this popular detective drama, with everyone’s favourite renegade detective Vera Stanhope, played by Brenda Blethyn, at the helm.

We are excited to share two new developments, both close to the coast and locations where Vera has filmed, in the North East.

Firstly, Astley Place from Miller Homes in Seaton Delaval will have a collection of 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes available. And they will be perfect for first-time buyers as much as second steppers and downsizers.

With the beautiful North East coastline a few minutes’ drive away, and plenty of countryside surrounding the town, there’s also plenty to do at nearby Seaton Delaval Hall. Plus, a new railway line is due to be completed this year. The Northumberland Line will connect Seaton Delaval with Newcastle city centre, making this a perfect location for commuters, too.

Registration for those interested in a new home at Astley Place in Seaton Delaval is currently open – find out more here.

Further south along the coast, and on the other side of the River Tyne in South Tyneside is South Shields and a popular location for filming episodes of Vera. In fact, some of the scenes in the last series have been filmed across the coastal town.

You will also find the new Riverside development of 4-bedroom townhouses from Cussins Homes there. The three-storey, semi-detached homes overlook the River Tyne and feature spacious balconies and expansive glazing to make use of the special open views, as well as maximise light.

And the modern homes feature a generous open-plan kitchen diner complete with integrated appliances, with a generous master bedroom to the second floor.

A perfect location for professionals, young families or older homeowners looking to downsize, South Shields offers all the benefits of living by the coast. But there are also excellent transport links with the Metro taking you straight into Newcastle city centre, so it’s ideal for commuters, too.

Grantchester – Darwin Green in Cambridge

Another long-running detective drama which graces our TV screens is Grantchester, set in the 1950s in the real village of Grantchester just outside of Cambridge. While most of the filming takes place in Grantchester village itself, which is a couple of miles outside of the historic city of Cambridge, some scenes are filmed in and around the city.

DWH at Darwin Green in Cambridge is a stunning new collection of homes being built by David Wilson Homes within the wider Darwin Green new development. Forming a whole new community, the development is within walking distance from central Cambridge. And its scale is such that it will have its own library, primary school, supermarket and allotments, alongside a central park, acres of green open space, and safe cycling and walking routes.

David Wilson Homes at Darwin Green range from three to four bedrooms in size and there’s a good choice of offers available on the properties. Select DWH Darwin Green homes come with extra energy-efficient features too, such as electric car charging points and solar PV panels. Ideal for professionals and growing families, life at Darwin Green will be a new start in a brand new community.
