Barratt extends Discount Offers for NHS and Armed Forces

They were set to end in December this year, but Barratt Developments confirms it will extend its special discount offers for the NHS and Armed Forces. Now set to run until June 2021, we find out more about the schemes, and where in the country they have been most popular.

The NHS Deposit Contribution Scheme
It was in May this year that Barratt Developments, the parent company of Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes launched their NHS 5% Deposit Scheme. Designed to say a big thank you to NHS workers for their superlative efforts and courage during the Covid-19 crisis, the scheme offers up to 5% deposit contribution to help NHS staff members buy a new home. For a home that costs £200,000, NHS workers would qualify for a contribution of £10,000. While the scheme was due to come to an end in December, it has been confirmed it will continue through until 18th June 2021, as we continue to fight the pandemic.

Armed Forces Deposit Contribution Scheme
As well as the scheme for the NHS, Barratt Developments runs a similar offer for members of the Armed Forces. Any military servicemen or women who are currently employed by the Army, Navy, or RAF can qualify for a 5% deposit contribution, up to £15,000 on a new Barratt or David Wilson home. And the offer remains valid for anyone who is due to retire from the forces, for up to 12 months from their date of retirement. The good news for military personnel and their families is that this scheme will also be continued through until June 2021.

Have they been popular?
On the day Barratt Developments shared news of the scheme extensions, they also confirmed how popular the schemes have been since Spring. Those Barratt and David Wilson Homes developments close to hospitals and military bases, have been the most popular. Looking at the South West region of the country as an example, there are a couple of developments which have seen a significant number of reservations benefitting from the scheme.
One such development is Lucerne Fields from Barratt Homes, which has seen almost half the homes reserved. The location of Lucerne Fields in Ivybridge is close to both Derriford Hospital and HMNB Devonport. David Thomas, Chief Executive of Barratt Developments said of the scheme, “Our Deposit Contribution Scheme has already helped 1,000 NHS workers to buy their own homes, saving them more than £10 million in the process, but we want to continue to support vital NHS workers in the New Year so we’ve extended it for six more months until June 2021.”

New developments close to hospitals
Heading northwards, the Lightfoot Meadows development of 3 and 4-bedroom homes in Preston from David Wilson Homes is situated no more than 2 miles from The Royal Preston Hospital. With a lovely collection of terraced, semi-detached, and detached homes, the development is also close to outstanding schools, making it perfect for growing families.
Beeston Quarter is an exciting new development, close to Nottingham and its hospitals, as well as military sites in the area. As well as 2-bedroom apartments, the development from Barratt Homes also has 3, 4, and 6-bedroom homes available. First-time buyers and growing families will appreciate the development’s proximity to travel networks as much as activities and days out close by.
