Less than 10 miles from the market town of Grantham, Corby Glen is located in the South Kesteven District of Lincolnshire. It began as a Danish settlement, first mentioned in the Domesday book in 1086. Referred to as just Corby before the 1950s, the village is surrounded by wooded countryside and fields. The River West Glen (which gave the village its modern name) runs through the centre of Corby Glen, where many of the stone built houses on narrow streets retain their original charm.

The village has grown in recent years, with the community welcoming new residents who benefit from a wide range of facilities and amenities, including a post office, village shops, a doctor’s surgery and fire station. There are also churches, two village halls, an art gallery and a library. A village pub is, of course, a must, and Corby Glen does not disappoint!

Corby Glen is an idyllic place to raise a family, and children are well-catered for in the village with a popular playgroup and the excellent Corby Glen Community Primary School. For older children, there is Charles Read Academy, an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ school for 11-16 year olds.

The village green, with its well-maintained playground, is a hit with younger and older residents alike. Proud of its strong sense of community and inclusive nature, Corby Glen offers a number of leisure activities and groups including a history society, walking and bowls clubs and the horticultural society. Not to be missed, and touted as the biggest social event of the year, is the annual Sheep Fair, believed to be the oldest Sheep Fair in the country.

Grantham is a short drive away, as is Bourne – both of which can be reached by bus from Corby Glen. Further afield, and for those seeking a taste of city life, Peterborough is just 30 miles away, while Nottingham and Lincoln can be reached in under an hour.
