Borthwick Castle Road
View Full development
Just yards from the A7 and seven miles from the City of Edinburgh Bypass, North Middleton offers easy travel to the city centre, Edinburgh Airport, the central belt, Fife and the north. Buses from the village into Edinburgh pass through Gorebridge, two miles away, from where there are more than 30 trains a day into Edinburgh Waverley on the new Edinburgh to Tweedbank line.
The modern Moorfoot Primary School, adjacent to the development, was created ten years ago by the merger of two nearby primaries, and North Middleton is in the catchment area for Newbattle High School, recognised as a digital centre of excellence. Middleton Village Hall hosts activities ranging from dance classes in a range of styles to crafts and SWRI meetings, and has a bar that opens on weekend evenings. Local attractions include fine dining at Borthwick Castle, fifteen minutes walk away.
There is a part time post office in the village, while Gorebridge, accessible via a pleasant riverside walk as well as by bus, has a wide choice of shops, with a newsagent, a large grocery and convenience store, a family butcher, a pharmacy, food takeaways and other services, including a health centre and a dental surgery.
The countryside around North Middleton provides wonderful opportunities for walking and cycling, ranging from a long-established footpath and mature woodland behind the development and routes along the nearby Gore Water to the adventure playground, golf and other activities at Vogrie Country Park.
